She’s Just 2.5 Years Old And Burnt 50% Of Her Body!

2.5-year-old Tanisha Hikaka, is a sweet, innocent child living in one of the most remote villages of Odisha. Her home is a small mud house with no proper road to reach it. Every day, her family has to walk through a river because there is no bridge, just to get to their house. Life was already very hard for them but now, it has turned into a nightmare.

On 5th August, a terrible accident changed everything. After giving Tanisha a bath, her mother wrapped her in a towel and took her near a small bonfire to keep her warm. It was a daily routine.

But this time, the towel caught fire, and before her mother could understand what was happening Tanisha was burning! She was covered in flames and screamed in terror. Her mother tried to save her with her bare hands, but it was too late. 

Tanisha suffered severe burns on her chest, stomach, right hand, one leg, and part of her face. Around 50% of her small body is burned.

Because of lack of money, they couldn’t even get Tanisha her necessary treatment! Today, Tanisha is in constant, unbearable pain. She cries all day and night, and sometimes even screams in agony. Her parents say she hasn’t smiled since that day. 

The doctors at Tender Palm Hospital, Lucknow,, where she is currently admitted, are doing everything they can. But her condition is serious and will need multiple surgeries, skin grafts, medicines, and months of care. The total cost of her treatment is estimated to be around ₹6–7 lakhs.

But Tanisha’s family is very poor. Her father is a daily-wage laborer who earns only ₹200–₹300 per day, if he gets work at all. Her mother also sometimes works cleaning utensils in other people’s homes. 

With such low income, they are completely helpless. Some kind-hearted people have already helped by donating around ₹40,000–₹50,000, but that is nowhere close to what is needed.

Right now, every single second is a fight for Tanisha’s life. Her burns are deep, her body is weak, and her cries break the hearts of everyone around her. She needs help urgently.

No child deserves to suffer like this. Tanisha should be playing, laughing, and living a happy life not lying in a hospital bed, wrapped in bandages, crying in pain. Her parents are shattered. They hold her hand and cry with her, unable to do more.
